Proverbs 23

Proverbs 23:17 “Do not let your heart envy sinners, but always be zealous for the fear of the Lord.” How easy is it for us to envy those who get ahead unhampered by Christian responsibility or God’s laws. Haven’t we all been guilty of this at sometime in our lives? I have been in conversation with Christians struggling with the fact that they are doing all they can to live a life holy and pleasing to God while they watch friends and co-workers get ahead without following God’s law. How about instead of coveting what we do not have that we thank God for supplying all we need. While it may be true that these people are getting ahead without following the will of God. We need to remember that a healthy fear of God will lead to a ¬†wonderful future even if we don not achieve it in this life.

  1. This reminds me of how very deceptive appearances may be — what looks like
success on the surface is emptiness without Christ and will ultimately be
reduced to ashes. Our goal must always be contentment with gratitude
whatever our circumstance. Not always easy but eternally satisfying. <
